Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams is the daughter of
Sandra Kay (Gale), an Ontario nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams a truck driver
and furniture mover. She was born in London, Ontario on November 17th, 1978.
She is of English, Welsh, Irish, and Scottish descent. Rachel started her
journey into acting as a teenager and by 13 was performing in Shakespearean
performances at the summer theater camps. She went on to graduate with honors
with the BFA degree in theater at York University. After her debut in the
Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson (1998), she co-starred in the Canadian
television show Slings and Arrows (2003) A comedy-drama about the struggles and
trials of an Shakespearean theater group. She was awarded an award called a
Gemini award for her performance in 2003.Her performance as Regina George in
the hit comedy Mean Girls (2004) instantly made her a part of the short list of
Hollywood's hottest young actresses. After that, she landed a star turn
opposite Ryan Gosling in the adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks bestseller The
Notebook (2004) The Notebook was a surprising box office hit and quickly became
the main romantic drama of a new, young generation of moviegoers. McAdams and
Gosling became lovers during filming, and continued to stay in touch up to the
middle of 2007. McAdams and Gosling soon were engaged and began to meet.
McAdams starred in The Lucky Ones (2007) and State of Play (2008),
respectively. McAdams also appeared in The Time Traveler's Wife(2009) and
Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's global hit Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams
was the smart producer of Morning Glory (2010). She also played the
materialistic fiancee Owen Wilson in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris (2011).
McAdams returned to romantic drama in The Vow (2012), in which she was a co-star
with Channing Tatum. McAdams also stars alongside Terrence Malick in To the
Wonder (2012), and Noomi Rapace as Passion (2012) in Brian De Palma’s thriller.
